Edinburg library launches Career Ready Series ahead of community job fair

Edinburg, TX – The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will host a four-part Career Ready Series beginning March 18 to help residents prepare for employment opportunities ahead of an upcoming community job fair. The weekly sessions, scheduled on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., will provide guidance on resume preparation, interview techniques, workplace professionalism and job retention skills.
Program overview
Library officials said the series is designed to help community members build the skills, confidence and preparation needed to pursue meaningful employment and strengthen economic stability. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from professionals representing local organizations and workforce agencies.
The sessions are open to individuals seeking their first job, exploring a career change or preparing to reenter the workforce. The program will be held at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.
Session schedule
The first session, scheduled for March 18, will focus on resume writing and application strategies and will be presented by the City of Edinburg Human Resources Department. Organizers said the workshop will cover ways to tailor resumes to improve job application success.
On March 25, representatives from the Texas Workforce Commission will lead a session titled “Interview With Confidence,” which will include interview preparation and mock interview techniques.
The April 1 workshop, presented by Renee Sanchez of Society 204, will address professional appearance and workplace etiquette in a session titled “Present Yourself Professionally.” The final session on April 8, led by the Texas Workforce Commission, will focus on workplace soft skills and strategies for success after being hired.
Participant benefits
Library officials said attendees who complete all sessions may receive a Library Career Ready Certificate and early access to the library’s upcoming job fair featuring more than 40 employers. Participants may also receive a digital professional headshot, printed copies of their resume and recognition as a Career Ready graduate.
