Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez Post 408 to Host 48th Annual Pan de Campo Cook-Off Nov. 1

Edinburg, TX – The sizzle of grills and the aroma of barbecue will fill the air on Saturday, Nov. 1, as the American Legion Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez Post 408 hosts the 48th Annual Pan de Campo Cook-Off at the Edinburg Amphitheater.
The long-running community tradition will feature competitive cooking in main categories of chicken, ribs, and brisket, along with jackpot rounds for pan de campo, chili, beans, carne guisada, margaritas, and fajitas. Teams will compete for prizes, bragging rights, and the title of Pan de Campo Champion.
In addition to the cook-off, the event will include live music, market vendors, and food for spectators to enjoy throughout the day. Entry for cooking teams is $250, with jackpot entries at $25 each.
The cook-off is sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance and sponsored by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, Folds of Honor, L&F Distributors, and CB3 Consultants.
