Edinburg Red Softball Team Advances to State Tournament for First Time

EDINBURG, TX – The 11-12 year old Edinburg Red softball team is making history as the first Edinburg softball squad to advance to the State Tournament after clinching the Section 4 Championship.

The team secured their spot by defeating opponents from Laredo, Alice, and Corpus Christi. With those victories, Edinburg Red earned their place at the state level, where they will compete in Abilene from July 8 to 12.

City officials and community members have expressed pride in the team’s accomplishment and are rallying support as they prepare for the next stage of competition.

The Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department oversees youth sports programs that aim to develop teamwork, discipline, and athletic excellence among local athletes.
