Las Almas Food Hall to Open in Downtown Edinburg, Bringing 30-Plus Jobs and Diverse Dining

Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation has announced the upcoming opening of Las Almas Food Hall, a locally owned food hall development at 225 E. Cano St. in downtown Edinburg. Developed by the Garcia-Kalifa family, the project represents more than $1.6 million in capital investment and is anticipated to open in fall 2026.

The food hall, located steps from the Hidalgo County Courthouse, is expected to create more than 30 jobs for the local workforce.

Las Almas Food Hall will offer a variety of cuisines under one roof, including pizza, vegan dishes, tacos, burgers, barbecue, sushi, Asian fusion, ceviche, and Mediterranean fare, along with a dedicated coffee vendor and a charcuterie-to-go station. A full-service bar will offer craft cocktails, beer, and wine.

Beyond dining, the food hall will feature retail spaces curated for the downtown experience, shared indoor seating areas, live music and community events, a private event room available for rent, and a dedicated private parking lot. Las Almas Food Hall has also partnered with UTRGV art students, who will showcase and sell original artwork throughout the venue. The space will host watch parties for UTRGV sporting events.

EEDC Board President Aaron Rivera said the development aligns with the city’s downtown revitalization goals.

“Las Almas Food Hall is exactly the kind of development that strengthens quality of life in Edinburg,” Rivera said. “Projects like this are central to our downtown revitalization efforts because they create jobs, draw people into the district, and give residents and visitors a reason to spend time downtown. We’re excited to see this vision come to life.”

Co-developer Amira Kalifa, who also serves on the city’s downtown steering committee, described the project’s broader significance.

“This investment is about more than opening a business. It’s about catalyzing economic growth in downtown Edinburg by creating a community gathering place that empowers entrepreneurs and supports local businesses,” Kalifa said. “As a member of the city’s downtown steering committee, I’ve seen firsthand the momentum building in this district, and I’m proud to bring a space that reflects the diversity and energy of our community right here on Cano Street.”
