Edinburg TX – The Edinburg City Council will hold its regular meeting Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at 6 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, 415 W. University Dr., with an agenda that includes a golf course management contract, a Bird City Texas designation application, and recognition of a local student athlete.
Proclamations
The council will present a proclamation recognizing Aug. 7, 2026, as Purple Heart Day in the City of Edinburg, and a proclamation honoring Kaytlen Moreno as the first female student athlete from Edinburg to receive a full collegiate scholarship to play women’s flag football.
Golf Course Management Contract
The council will consider authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement with Troon Golf Inc. for RFP No. 2026-010, covering golf course management and operations services for both Los Lagos Golf Club and Ebony Hills Golf Course. The item was submitted by Assistant City Manager Ramiro Garza.
Unified Development Code Public Hearing
The council will consider setting the time and place of a joint public hearing with the Planning and Zoning Commission regarding the city’s Unified Development Code and prescribing the type of notice to be given.
Consent Agenda
The consent agenda includes the following items:
- A resolution authorizing the city manager to submit an application to Audubon Texas and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for designation of Edinburg as a Bird City Texas community
- Purchase and installation of two Uninterruptible Power Supply battery backup units for the new Fire and Police Department radio system from Motorola Solutions Inc. through the Houston-Galveston Area Council Buy cooperative in the amount of $112,611.90
- Award of Bid No. 2026-13, City Wide Pavement Markings, to Pavement Markings Inc., the lowest aggregate bidder meeting specifications, and authorization to enter into an agreement related thereto
- Renewal of Adobe product licenses from SHI GS through the Department of Information Resources cooperative in the amount of $49,330.78
- Approval of the quarterly investment report for the period ending June 30, 2026
- Authorization to dispose of approximately 33 cubic feet of non-vital city records in accordance with the city’s Records Management Program and Texas State Library and Archives Commission Local Records Retention Schedules
Executive Session
The council is expected to convene in executive session to discuss personnel matters, real property, economic development matters, and pending litigation in Cause No. C-2168-22-G, Rodolfo Campos vs. Fire and Police Civil Service Commission for the City of Edinburg, Texas and City of Edinburg, Texas. The council will reconvene in open session to take any necessary action following the closed meeting.
