Edinburg Opens Sandbag Distribution Today as Rainfall Threatens Area

Edinburg TX – The City of Edinburg is hosting a sandbag distribution today, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Edinburg Service Center, 1201 N. Doolittle Road, in response to expected rainfall.
City staff will load sandbags directly into residents’ vehicles upon arrival. When pre-filled bags run out, the site will convert to self-service, with bags and shovels provided to residents. Distribution is weather permitting and will continue while supplies last.
The event is open to Edinburg residents and local businesses. Residents may receive up to six sandbags per household; businesses may receive up to eight. Proof of residency is required.
The city is urging the community to plan ahead and take necessary precautions to protect their property.
