Edinburg, EEDC Unveil Plans for Workforce Resource Center, New Golf Clubhouse

Staff Report

Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg, in partnership with the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), has announced plans to develop a new Workforce Resource Center and a modern clubhouse at Ebony Hills Golf Course, located at 300 W. Palm Drive.

The project, partially funded through EEDC bond funds, is designed to strengthen local workforce development while improving community facilities. The Workforce Resource Center will offer job training, career placement support, and services for local employers, including recruitment and workforce development programs. It will also feature office space to accommodate EEDC operations as the organization expands.

Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. said the new center will serve as “a hub for career development, local business support, and community engagement,” emphasizing the city’s investment in economic growth and accessibility.

EEDC Executive Director Raudel Garza noted that the initiative blends workforce development and recreation, with the project including a new golf clubhouse, cart barn, and multipurpose spaces for offices and meetings. Enhancements to existing parking areas and the demolition of older facilities are also part of the plan.

The project’s architectural and design details will be finalized in coordination with the EEDC Board and the Edinburg City Council. A construction management firm will soon be selected to oversee the work. The initiative is part of the 2019 Bond Project aimed at expanding and improving community infrastructure.
