Forum to Spotlight Edinburg Mayoral Candidates Ahead of November Election

Staff Report
EDINBURG, TX – Voters will have a chance to hear directly from candidates running for Edinburg mayor during a public forum scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium, 200 N. 7th Ave.
The event, hosted by Futuro RGV, will feature a moderated discussion on key issues shaping the city’s future. Organizers expect not only Edinburg voters but also community members from across the Rio Grande Valley to attend. Local media outlets and Futuro RGV members will also be present.
The forum comes as Edinburg prepares for a competitive mayoral race in the Nov. 4 general election. The city’s previous mayoral contest ended in a runoff, but fewer than 20 percent of registered voters turned out. Futuro RGV officials said they hope the event encourages greater participation.
“Be an informed voter and exercise your right,” organizers said in a statement promoting the forum.
Important election dates:
- Last day to register to vote: Oct. 6
- Early voting: Oct. 20–31
- Election Day: Nov. 4
