Edinburg CISD Police to Host Statewide School Safety Summit

EDINBURG TX – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Police Department is set to host a statewide summit focused on school-based law enforcement, in collaboration with the Texas School Safety Center.
The Texas School-Based Law Enforcement Summit will take place from Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1at Edinburg High School, located at 2600 E. Wisconsin Road. The weeklong event is expected to draw more than 300 police officers from across Texas to engage in collaboration, specialized training, and discussion of best practices in school safety.
“We are honored to host the Texas School Safety Center and officers from across the state for this crucial summit,” said ECISD Chief of Police Ricardo Perez Jr. “The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority, and this summit will strengthen partnerships and strategies that protect our school communities.”
The summit will include keynote presentations, expert-led training sessions, and interactive workshops. Topics will range from emergency response and threat assessment to youth mental health and community engagement in school settings.
Members of the media are invited to attend select sessions and speak with organizers and participants.
