Hidalgo County Precinct 4, Edinburg CISD to hold groundbreaking for Southeast Park

Edinburg, TX – Hidalgo County Precinct 4 and the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Feb. 25 for the new Southeast Park.

The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at 4483 E. Canton Rd., behind Betts Elementary School and Esparza Elementary School.

Project partnership

Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres is partnering with Edinburg CISD to mark the start of construction on the park, which will serve the growing southeast area of the city.

Planned amenities

Plans for Southeast Park include a splash pad, walking trails, an inclusive playground, basketball courts, soccer fields and baseball fields. The project also calls for covered picnic tables, exercise equipment and restroom facilities.

County officials state the project is intended to expand recreational opportunities and provide accessible spaces for families in the area.
