Edinburg’s downtown parking garage groundbreaking set for Friday

Staff Report

Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg will break ground Friday on a three-level downtown parking garage, a $6.2 million project aimed at easing congestion and supporting nearby businesses and events.

The ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at McIntyre Street and Closner Boulevard. The project includes 256 parking spaces and a 12-month construction timeline, weather permitting. Funding includes a $2 million contribution from the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation.

City officials say the garage advances ongoing efforts to improve access in the central business district. The EEDC, funded in part by local sales tax revenue, backs projects intended to spur job creation and private investment.

Residents may attend the event in person or watch live on the city’s Facebook page and Spectrum Channel 1300.
