Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Death of 1-Year-Old in Vehicle Accident

EDINBURG TX – The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 1-year-old child who was fatally struck by a vehicle over the weekend in a residential area east of Edinburg.

According to authorities, deputies responded at approximately 11:48 a.m. Saturday to the 8300 block of E. Canton Road following reports of a vehicle accident involving a child. Upon arrival, investigators learned that the child had been struck by a vehicle and was transported by a family member to South Texas Health System Children’s Hospital in Edinburg.

The child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sheriff’s officials confirmed that a family member was involved in the incident. No additional details about the circumstances or identity of those involved have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
