STEM Workshop Series Continues at Edinburg Library with July Family Sessions

Staff Report
EDINBURG, TX – The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library’s Summer STEM Workshop Series continues into July, offering families a chance to explore chemistry through fun, hands-on experiments led by aspiring scientist Grace D. Guerrera.
The free, family-friendly program invites participants to learn the science behind everyday phenomena in a way that’s both educational and interactive. The July lineup includes:
- July 12 at 1 p.m. – How Far Will It Go?
Participants will learn about the chemistry behind liquid separation by making colorful layered liquids in a bottle. - July 26 at 1 p.m. – Watch It Move!
This workshop explores capillary action using water and balloons, demonstrating how fluids move through narrow spaces.
Grace D. Guerrera, a chemistry student at Texas A&M University in McAllen, brings her passion for science education to the workshops. She is set to transition to Texas A&M’s College Station campus to continue pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
Each session is held at the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd. Materials are provided while supplies last. For more information, call 956-383-6246.
