EDINBURG, TX – The Edinburg City Council is set to hear a presentation on the schematic design of a new downtown parking garage during its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 1.

The proposed three-story structure will be located at 201 N. Closner Boulevard and is designed to provide approximately 268 parking spaces. The project aims to address the increasing demand for parking in the downtown area and improve accessibility to nearby attractions including the Promenade Park Amphitheater, Edinburg Arts, Culture, and Entertainment (ACE) District, and surrounding businesses.

According to the agenda item submitted by City Engineer Mardoqueo Hinojosa, the facility will also feature exterior pavers and sidewalk enhancements to promote pedestrian access and improve the visual character of the area.

During the meeting, city staff will present an update on the design and seek council approval to proceed to the next phase of design development to be followed by the construction documentation phase. If approved, construction is expected to begin in late September.

City officials say the garage will support downtown revitalization efforts and provide vital infrastructure to accommodate continued growth in the area.
