Edinburg Pastor Faces Additional Grooming Charges in Ongoing Child Sex Abuse Case

Edinburg TX – The suspect in an ongoing Edinburg Police Department investigation was arraigned Tuesday on two additional charges of child grooming, a third-degree felony, allegedly involving two separate juvenile victims, according to the department.

Jorge Gonzalez Martinez, 49, identified by investigators as a local pastor, was arrested July 27, 2026, in connection with multiple counts of indecency with a child. The arrest was executed without incident, according to police.

Investigators said the initial police report was filed earlier that month, and the alleged incidents occurred between March and April of 2025.

Martinez was arraigned July 28, 2026, on four counts of indecency with a child, with bond set at $300,000. Bond on the two additional child grooming charges was set at $100,000.
