Edinburg Chamber Adds Details to Texas Cook’Em High Steaks Lineup for July 4 America250 Celebration

Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce has released additional details on entertainment and scheduling for Texas Cook’Em High Steaks, set for Saturday, July 4, at Ebony Hills Golf Course, 300 W. Palm Dr. The free, all-day event has been designated an official host location for America’s Block Party as part of the nationwide America250 celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Schedule of Events

The day begins with a Firecracker 5K at 7:30 a.m. Festival grounds open at 4 p.m. and remain open until 11:30 p.m. From there, the day includes live music, the 956 Cornhole tournament, the Bert Ogden Cars and Stripes Car Show, the Hot Dog Eating Contest, and the J. Gonzalez Law Firm Freedom Jump Skydive. Edinburg Chamber The Steak Cookoff Association sanctioned cook-off runs all day with $12,500 in prize money on the line, and H-E-B closes out the night with the Sizzle and Stripes Firework Show at 10 p.m.

Additional activities announced for this year’s event include a Rogue Boxing Independence Day Night of Champions and a Family Fun Zone, alongside food and market vendors throughout the grounds.

Live Entertainment

This year’s event lineup will feature live tribute and cover band performances celebrating some of America’s biggest artists, including Green Day, George Strait, Morgan Wallen, and Jimmy Gonzalez. Edinburg Chamber Organizers said attendees can expect an evening filled with free live music and high-energy performances as part of the America250 celebration.

Competitions

The Steak Cookoff Association sanctioned cook-off remains open to teams from across Texas, competing for the $12,500 prize purse. The Kids Cook’Em competition, which gives children the chance to grill their own steak and compete for a trophy, is sold out for this year’s event. The Hot Dog Eating Contest gives competitors 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs as possible for a year of bragging rights.

Attendance and Background

More than 8,000 people attended the last edition of Texas Cook’Em at Ebony Hills, and organizers have set a goal of 15,000 attendees for 2026. Edinburg Chamber Separately, the chamber has stated it expects more than 12,000 people at this year’s event.

Now in its 15th year, Texas Cook’Em has grown from a community cookout into one of the Rio Grande Valley’s largest Fourth of July celebrations. The event is presented by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Edinburg, Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, Explore Edinburg, H-E-B, Bert Ogden Buick GMC, Omar Ochoa Law Firm, J. Gonzalez Law Firm, and Fiesta Chevrolet Edinburg.
