The investigation remains active as officials continue to review evidence related to the incident.

Charges filed

Police said 70-year-old Silvia Galindo Martinez has been charged with Failure to Report a Felony, a Class A misdemeanor. Prior suspect identified

According to previous information released by the Edinburg Police Department, traffic investigators received information at approximately 7 p.m. March 23 regarding a vehicle matching the description previously shared with the public. The investigation led officers to an address in Roma, where they made contact with 71-year-old Alfredo Yanez, who allegedly admitted to being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Charges and court proceedings

Police said Yanez was arraigned at 3 p.m. March 24 at Edinburg Municipal Court on a charge of collision involving personal injury or death, a third-degree felony.
