Edinburg library launches free children’s programs to kick off 2026

Edinburg, TX – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library is welcoming the new year with a full slate of free children’s programs throughout January, offering opportunities for learning, creativity and family-friendly fun.
The City of Edinburg Library and Cultural Arts Department announced that all children’s programs are free and open to the public, with no registration required.
Weekly programs for young learners
Toddler Time will be held Tuesdays at 10 a.m. on Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27, providing age-appropriate stories, songs and activities designed to support early learning and social interaction.
Pre-School Story Time is scheduled for Fridays at 10 a.m. on Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, featuring books and activities aimed at building early literacy skills.
Homeschool Hour, designed for children ages 6 to 11, will take place Wednesdays at 11 a.m. on Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, offering educational programming tailored to homeschool families.
Saturday and evening activities
The library’s “In the Know” program will be offered Saturdays at noon, focusing on timely and engaging topics for children. January sessions include Dungeons & Dragons on Jan. 17 and Artificial Intelligence on Jan. 31.
Creature Club meets Mondays at 6 p.m. and introduces children to animals from around the world. January topics include Polar Bears on Jan. 12, Orcas on Jan. 19 and Snowy Owls on Jan. 26.
Community-focused programming
Library officials said the January schedule reflects the department’s commitment to providing accessible educational programming for families across Edinburg. Programs are designed to encourage curiosity, literacy and hands-on learning in a welcoming environment.
All programs will be held at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.
