Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce has named Hidalgo County District Attorney Terry Palacios as the 2026 Edinburg Man of the Year and Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres as the 2026 Edinburg Woman of the Year. Both will be recognized at the Chamber’s 101st Annual Banquet and Installation Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
Terry Palacios, Man of the Year
Palacios has served the Edinburg community through his involvement with the Edinburg Municipal Court, Edinburg Housing Authority, the Boys and Girls Club of Edinburg RGV, the Palacios Foundation, and the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, where he served seven years on the Board of Directors, including as Board Chair.
His community involvement includes fundraising efforts, charitable initiatives, and volunteering at community events. He is also involved with Sacred Heart Catholic Church and has supported health and wellness initiatives.
Ellie Torres, Woman of the Year
Torres has served on the Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees and has held the position of Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner since 2019. As commissioner, she has advanced investments in drainage and flood control, transportation and infrastructure, parks and recreational spaces, public health, rural services, and community resources.
Torres has helped secure more than $39 million in flood-control funding and has advanced numerous drainage projects in the region. A former educator and small business owner, she was appointed the first woman to serve as Chair of the Rio Grande Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization.
101st Annual Banquet
The banquet, themed “An Evening in Color,” will welcome incoming Board President Ruby Casas and recognize outgoing Board President Aaron Nick Cantu. The evening will also feature Howl2GO, the traveling version of the Howl at the Moon dueling piano experience.
