Edinburg library kicks off January with free teen and tween programs

Edinburg, TX – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library is inviting teens and tweens to start the new year with a series of free, creative programs designed specifically for ages 11 to 18.
The January Teen & Tween Program, hosted by the City of Edinburg Library and Cultural Arts Department, features four hands-on activities throughout the month. Library officials said all programs are free to attend, require no registration and are open while space allows.
January program schedule
The month’s lineup begins Saturday, Jan. 10, at noon with a Middle Earth Map program, where participants can create their own fantasy-inspired maps.
On Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m., the library will host a DIY Vision Board workshop focused on goal-setting and creativity for the new year.
A Watercolor Bookmark program is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m., giving participants the chance to experiment with watercolor techniques while creating a functional keepsake.
The series concludes Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 6 p.m., with a Blackout Poetry session, an activity that combines reading and creative writing by transforming existing text into original poems.
Programs designed for youth engagement
Library staff said the Teen & Tween Program is part of the library’s broader effort to provide age-appropriate activities that encourage creativity, literacy and self-expression in a welcoming environment.
The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library serves as Edinburg’s main public library and offers year-round programming for children, teens and adults, along with access to books, digital resources and educational materials.
How to participate
Programs will be held at the library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd. Supplies will be provided while available. No advance registration is required.
