Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 4 to Combine Toy Drives for Dec. 17 Holiday Event

Staff Report

Edinburg, TX – The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and Hidalgo County Precinct 4 will host a joint toy giveaway and holiday celebration Dec. 17 at the Alfonso Flores All Star Park in Edinburg.

The free event is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. at 107 Sunflower Road and is open to families from across Hidalgo County. Officials said the sheriff’s office and Precinct 4 merged their separate toy drives this year to reach more children and streamline resources into a single community gathering.

The evening will include a toy distribution, free food and drinks, games and rides, holiday-themed entertainment and photos with Santa. Partner agencies and sponsors will have booths on site with activities, information and giveaways.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres said the collaboration is intended to serve more families and offer a larger-scale event for children in the area. Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra said combining efforts expands the reach of the sheriff’s annual toy drive and continues the agency’s tradition of holiday outreach.

County officials encouraged families to arrive early to take part in the activities and noted that the celebration is designed as a family-friendly event for all ages.
