Edinburg Library Transitions to New TLC System for Patrons

Staff Report
Edinburg, TX – The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library will transition to a new library management system, The Library Corporation (TLC), beginning Nov. 12, 2025. The change aims to provide a smoother experience and uninterrupted service for library patrons across Hidalgo County.
According to library officials, existing Sekula Memorial Library (SML) cardholders can continue accessing SML resources without interruption. However, those wishing to check out items from Hidalgo County Library System (HCLS) branches must apply for a separate HCLS card.
Non-SML cardholders can receive a new SML card at no cost by visiting the library’s circulation desk. Replacement cards carry a $2 fee. Borrowers may check out up to 15 items at a time.
The library’s popular courtesy return service and interlibrary loan program, ShareIt, will remain available. Access to shared digital resources, including eBooks, will also continue unchanged.
Patrons experiencing issues with their PINs may request updates in person at the Sekula Memorial Library, located at 1906 S. Closner Blvd.
For more information or assistance, residents can call (956) 383-6246.
