Edinburg to Host Free Two-Day ‘Los Muertos Bailan’ Festival Honoring Life, Culture and Community

Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg Cultural Arts Department is expanding its signature Los Muertos Bailan celebration into a two-day festival this year, honoring the spirit of Día de los Muertos through music, art and tradition. The 11th annual event will take place October 24–25, 2025, stretching from Edinburg City Hall to the Promenade Park Amphitheater. Admission is free and open to the public.
Festivities begin Friday, October 24, with Canta Y No Llores, an all-day mariachi celebration at the Edinburg Arts, Culture and Events Center. The day’s schedule includes a Mariachi Vocal Masterclass from 10 to 11:30 a.m., a Voice Competition from 1 to 4 p.m., and a Mariachi Showcase from 5 to 9 p.m. Food and artisan vendors will line McIntyre Street as live performances take place at the Amphitheater stage from 6 to 10 p.m.
The main Los Muertos Bailan Festival follows on Saturday, October 25, featuring live entertainment, artisan markets, a chalk art competition and family-friendly activities from 5 to 11 p.m. The event’s highlight procession begins at 7 p.m., featuring Charros, Dancing Horses, Aztec Dancers, folklorico groups, City Council members and Official Catrinas. The parade will make its way through the McIntyre Promenade and end at the community altar in front of City Hall.
This year’s altar will honor Sabrina Walker Hernandez, a U.S. Army veteran and respected nonprofit leader remembered for her dedication to service and mentorship. Attendees are encouraged to contribute photos or mementos in her memory. Two “Remember Me” Walls will also be available for visitors to write names in remembrance of loved ones.
Entertainment throughout the night will include performances by Misión Colombiana, fire dancers and other acts. Families can also enjoy a Kids Zone with unlimited carnival rides for $5, along with mask-making, sugar skull decorating and face painting stations.
