Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, at 6 p.m. to consider campus improvement plans for seven elementary schools, including two campuses rated D by the Texas Education Agency, as well as personnel actions involving three employees facing possible termination.
Campus Improvement Plans
The board will be asked to approve local improvement plans for five campuses designated under the state’s Targeted Support and Improvement framework. De Zavala Elementary, which holds a D rating from the TEA, and Robert E. Lee Elementary, rated B, are designated for Targeted Support and Improvement. John F. Kennedy Elementary and Carmen V. Avila Elementary, both rated C, are designated for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement. Hargill Elementary, also rated D, is listed separately as a D-rated campus requiring an improvement plan.
The board will also consider targeted improvement plans for two campuses under the Comprehensive Support and Improvement designation. Dr. Thomas Esparza Elementary, rated B, is designated as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement Progress school, indicating the campus has shown progress under the framework. Anne Magee Elementary, rated D, is designated as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement school, reflecting continued performance concerns.
