Edinburg Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Bicyclist; Juvenile Driver Taken Into Custody

Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a 43-year-old man early Friday morning on N. McColl Road.
At approximately 1 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, officers responded to the 2000 block of N. McColl Road. Investigators determined that David Moreno was traveling southbound on his bicycle in the center turning lane when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that fled the scene.
At approximately 5 a.m., the parents of four juveniles arrived at the Edinburg Police Department lobby to report the accident. The suspect vehicle has been identified as a 2014 Dodge Caravan. All four juveniles allegedly inside the vehicle at the time of the crash are 16 years old.
The juvenile driver was taken into custody and will be charged with Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death, a second-degree felony.
