Edinburg Adds Walk-In Plan Review Hours to Assist With Building Permit Questions

Staff Report
Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg is expanding public access to its development services with new walk-in plan review sessions aimed at helping residents, contractors and business owners navigate the building permit process. The initiative is designed to streamline communication between applicants and multiple city departments involved in reviewing construction projects.

Beginning this month, the Building Permits and Building Safety teams will host in-person sessions every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at the City Hall Community Room. City officials said the walk-in format allows applicants to receive real-time updates on permit review status, ask technical questions and address delays that may arise when plans require revisions.
The plan review team includes representatives from Building Safety, Engineering, Fire, Planning and Zoning, Storm Water, Health and Code, and Solid Waste. By bringing all departments into a single location, the city aims to reduce wait times and help applicants resolve outstanding issues more efficiently.

City staff noted that the sessions are open to projects of all sizes—from small home improvements to large commercial developments—and are intended to complement existing online and by-appointment services.
Residents or contractors with questions about the sessions or permit requirements may contact the Building Safety Department at 956-388-8203.
