Edinburg Police Department Hosts Operation Chill for Local Kids On July 11

EDINBURG, Texas — The Edinburg Police Department is inviting local children to beat the summer heat and enjoy a free Slurpee as part of their Operation Chill event. The event will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stripes, located at 1210 E Monte Cristo Rd.
Operation Chill is an initiative designed to foster positive interactions between the Edinburg Police Department and the community’s youth. Children are encouraged to meet local police officers, learn more about their work, and enjoy a complimentary Slurpee, courtesy of 7-Eleven and Stripes.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for kids to engage with our officers in a friendly and relaxed setting,” said a representative from the Edinburg Police Department. “We look forward to seeing many smiling faces and sharing a cool treat together.”
The event is free and open to all children. It aims to build trust and rapport between the police and the community, providing a fun and memorable experience for the city’s young residents.
