Edinburg IT Director Named One of Nation’s Top 10 in City Government

EDINBURG TX – Daniel Vera, the City of Edinburg’s Director of Information Technology, has been named one of the Top 10 City Government IT Directors for 2025 by Government CIO Outlook, a national publication recognizing excellence in municipal technology leadership.

Vera was honored for his innovative approach to digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and service delivery. The feature, titled From Code to Command in IT, appears in both the print and digital editions of the magazine and highlights Vera’s 20-year career in the tech field, including the past seven years as Edinburg’s IT Director.

In an article in the publication, Vera offered this advice to IT professionals, “Get your foot in the door, stay curious, ask questions, take on challenges, embrace every learning opportunity and stay humble. That mindset is the key.”

A graduate of the University of Texas-Pan American with a degree in computer science, Vera is praised for combining technical expertise with a collaborative leadership style. He now leads a 19-member IT team responsible for supporting the city’s digital operations and ensuring a secure, modern environment for staff and residents alike.

“Daniel’s leadership has positioned Edinburg at the forefront of municipal technology,” said Mayor Ramiro Garza. “His forward-thinking strategies and dedication to service exemplify what it means to lead with purpose and vision.”
