Staff Reports

EDINBURG, Texas — The City of Edinburg is set to install six new artificial turf baseball fields at Edinburg Municipal Park to enhance sports facilities for the community. A groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 2 of the Municipal Park Turf Field Project will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10 a.m. at 714 S. Raul Longoria Road.

City staff will host the event, which marks the beginning of renovations for three fields adjacent to Phase 1 and three youth fields on the park’s north side. The first phase included upgrades to Field 2, now featuring all-weather turf, adjustable bases, and a drainage system.

Construction for the $2 million project, funded by the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, began on June 3, 2024. The project is expected to be completed by February 2025.

Residents are invited to attend the ceremony at the adult baseball field on the park’s south side to learn more about the project. The event will also be streamed live on the City of Edinburg’s Facebook page and Spectrum Channel 1300.
