City of Edinburg Encourages Nominations for ‘Hometown of Heroes’ Recognition

Edinburg, TX – December 12, 2023 — As the ‘Hometown of Heroes’ Half-Marathon approaches on March 3, 2024, the City of Edinburg is reaching out to its community, urging residents to nominate individuals who have made a lasting impact on the city. The call for nominations is part of an initiative to recognize those displaying “extraordinary public service or exemplary contribution” to Edinburg.
Residents are invited to put forward the names of individuals who have gone above and beyond for the community, embodying the spirit of service, kindness, and selflessness. The City seeks heroes who, even in the absence of an audience, tirelessly contribute to the betterment of Edinburg. Whether a teacher, first responder, military hero, athlete, or former city leader, anyone meeting the criteria is eligible for nomination. A total of thirteen community members will be selected to represent individual miles of the half-marathon at their respective mile markers.
