Edinburg to host South Texas Junior Boxing Olympics May 1-3

Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department will host the South Texas Junior Boxing Olympics from May 1 through May 3 at 315 E. Mark S. Peña Drive.
The event, sanctioned by the South Texas Amateur Boxing Association, is expected to feature more than 250 matches over three days.

According to the announcement, more than 430 male and female boxers ages 8 to 16 are registered to compete. Participants are expected from across the region, including Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Laredo, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.
The event is also expected to draw approximately 200 coaches and 58 officials.
Schedule details
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. May 1, followed by bouts from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m.
On May 2, bouts are scheduled from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at noon. On May 3, bouts will take place from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., with doors also opening at noon.
Ticket information
Tickets are available in advance at the Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department or at the door. General admission is $12 per day, VIP seating is $20 per day and a three-day general admission pass is $25. Admission is free for children ages 5 and under.
