Two arrested in Edinburg movie theater robbery of more than $6,000 in clothing and jewelry

Edinburg, TX – Edinburg police arrested two individuals Tuesday in connection with an aggravated robbery reported last month at a local movie theater.

Incident at AMC Theater

According to the Edinburg Police Department, investigators, along with the SWAT team and patrol officers, executed a search warrant Jan. 20 at a residence in the 2900 block of Del Rey West. Phillip Nicholas Couch and a 15-year-old juvenile were taken into custody without incident.

Police said the arrests are tied to an aggravated robbery that occurred Dec. 15, 2025, at the AMC Theatre located at 3003 S. Expressway 281. During the incident, a victim was allegedly robbed of more than $6,000 in clothing and jewelry.

Separate narcotics arrest

Authorities also reported that Carlos De La Cruz was arrested at the same location on an unrelated narcotics offense.

The investigation into the aggravated robbery remains ongoing, and officials said additional details may be released as the case progresses.
