Edinburg Council to Meet on Wednesday to Certify Election Results, Set Runoff for December

Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg City Council will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers to canvass the results of the Nov. 4 municipal election and take formal steps toward a December runoff. The Edinburg City Council normally meets on Tuesdays, but moved the meeting to Wednesday as Tuesday is Veterans’ Day, a national holiday.
According to the posted agenda, City Secretary Clarice Y. Balderas will present the official canvass of election returns and a resolution declaring the certified results for the races of mayor, councilmember Place One, and councilmember Place Two. The council will also review and approve the order for a municipal runoff election scheduled for Dec. 13, 2025.
In addition to canvassing the vote, the City Secretary will present the certification of runoff candidates, finalizing which names will appear on the December ballot.
The meeting will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by certification of public notice and an open public comment period. Residents wishing to speak must complete a comment form prior to the meeting.
The session will take place at Edinburg City Hall, 415 W. University Drive.
