Edinburg to Host 3rd Annual Homestead Exemption Registration Event Oct. 15

Staff Report
Edinburg, TX – Homeowners in Hidalgo County will have an opportunity to learn more about property tax savings and complete applications during the 3rd Annual Homestead Exemption Registration Event, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Arts, Culture, and Events Center (ACE Center), 315 W. McIntyre St.
Personnel from the Hidalgo County Appraisal District will be available to answer questions and assist with applications for the homestead exemption, which can lower a property owner’s taxable value and reduce annual property taxes.
To qualify, applicants must bring a valid Texas driver’s license or ID card. The address on the identification must match the property for which the exemption is claimed. Requirements also state that the property must be the owner’s principal residence and that neither the owner nor spouse is claiming a residence homestead exemption on another property.
The event is designed to make the process more accessible for residents and to ensure homeowners take advantage of available property tax relief.
