Edinburg Police Arrest Motorcyclist After I-69C Crash Injures Passenger

EDINBURG, TX — A 40-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday after police say he was driving intoxicated when his motorcycle crashed into an SUV on Interstate 69C, seriously injuring his passenger.
The accident happened around 2:25 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the 5500 block of the highway, according to the Edinburg Police Department.

Investigators said a BMW motorcycle, driven by Miguel Angel Garcia, struck the rear of a blue Ford SUV. Both Garcia and his female passenger were ejected in the crash. The motorcycle continued sliding across the roadway, hit a guardrail, and bounced back onto the highway, where it was struck by a white Chevrolet Malibu.
Police said the occupants of the Ford SUV and Chevrolet Malibu were not injured. The passenger on the motorcycle suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Following the investigation, Garcia was charged with one count of intoxication assault. Police said the case remains under investigation.
