ACTIVE SCENE: Man Climbs Rooftop With Shovel After Fleeing Edinburg Police

EDINBURG TX – At this moment, Edinburg police are responding to a developing situation near the intersection of Schunior and Jackson involving a man reported to be acting suspiciously and possibly under the influence of drugs.

Authorities said the man was initially seen waving what appeared to be a walking stick. When officers arrived on the scene and gave verbal commands, he fled on foot. The man then reportedly grabbed a shovel and climbed onto a rooftop.

Officers have secured the area and are attempting to safely de-escalate the situation and persuade the man to come down.

No injuries have been reported, and the incident remains ongoing.
