Edinburg to Host Expanded Texas Cook’Em BBQ Festival and Independence Day Celebration

EDINBURG TX – The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is preparing to host one of the largest Independence Day events in South Texas with the return of Texas Cook’Em: High Steaks in Edinburg, set for Friday, July 4, 2025, at Ebony Hills Golf Course.

The annual festival, which has become a regional Fourth of July tradition, is expected to draw large crowds for a full day of live music, family-friendly activities, and high-stakes barbecue competition. Admission is free.

This year’s event will feature performances by top tribute acts, including Garth Live! The Ultimate Garth Brooks TributeFooz Fighters, and Red – A Taylor Swift Tribute. The evening will conclude with the H-E-B Sizzle & Stripes Fireworks Show at 9 p.m.

Among the day’s highlights will be the Freedom Skydive Jump, a patriotic demonstration presented by the J. Gonzalez Law Firm, featuring professional skydivers parachuting onto the festival grounds with the American flag.

Texas Cook’Em will also host elite BBQ competitors from across the state, competing for $12,500 in cash prizes. Winners will earn prestigious invitations: the CBA Grand Champion will qualify for the American Royal World Series of Barbecue, and the SCA steak winner will advance to the SCA World Championship.

Other attractions include the Cars & Stripes Auto Show, presented by Bert Ogden Buick GMC, a Family Fun Zonesponsored by the Omar Ochoa Law Firm, and a wide range of food and craft vendors. The chamber expects this year’s celebration to be the largest in its history.
