Edinburg Police Department Launches Teen Police Academy for Local Youth

EDINBURG, TX — The Edinburg Police Department is accepting applications for its annual Teen Police Academy, a week-long program designed to introduce high school students to law enforcement careers through hands-on training and interactive sessions.

The academy, held at the CPL Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility at 1309 N. Doolittle Road, will run two sessions: June 16-20 and June 23-27, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. The program is open to Edinburg high school students aged 14 to 17, including public, private, and homeschool students.

Participants will learn about core police functions such as patrol, special operations, and crime scene investigation. Attendance for all classes is required, and spots are limited.

The program is free of charge, and applications are due by June 10. Registration forms can be accessed at cityofedinburg.com/departments/police/teen_police_academy.php.
