Staff Report
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is conducting household and business travel surveys to gather data on regional travel patterns and improve the area’s transportation infrastructure.
In partnership with the Rio Grande Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization, TxDOT is seeking input from residents and businesses to help shape future transportation projects. The survey will assist in planning roadways, transit options, and other infrastructure improvements.
Household Surveys
Selected households will receive postcards inviting them to participate at www.lonestartravelsurvey.com. Once 2,500 households are confirmed, participants will log their travel over a 24-hour period using a mobile app or an online portal. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
Business Surveys
Businesses in the region will receive letters requesting participation. Owners who agree to take part will record employee travel data on an assigned date. Some locations may also have counting equipment installed to monitor vehicle traffic.
