Small Business Administration opens two Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in Hidalgo County

EDINBURG, May 24, 2023 – Starting today, the Small Business Administration (SBA) will offer assistance to residents at two Disaster Loan Outreach Centers in Hidalgo County. The centers are located in McAllen and Palmview, and will open for business beginning at 1 p.m. today.

Residents can visit the Old Church Winery (700 N. Main St. in McAllen) or the Hidalgo County Precinct 3 – The Mansion (2401 N. Moorefield Rd. in Palmview) to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans from the SBA.

The centers will be open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are closed on Sunday. They will also be closed on Monday, May 29 for the Memorial Day holiday. The center will be open for the next two weeks.

As per the SBA, Businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets. Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, including personal vehicles.

Residents can apply online or in person at one of the outreach centers. The deadline to apply for property damage is July 21, 2023. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Feb. 22, 2024.
