Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Police Department is reminding drivers that school buses return to the roads next week and urging motorists to help keep students safe.

According to the department, drivers should slow down in school zones, stop for flashing red lights on buses, and stay alert around crosswalks.

The department outlined when vehicles must stop for a school bus based on road type. On two-lane roads, vehicles traveling in both directions must stop. On divided highways, vehicles traveling behind the bus must stop. On roads with a shared median, vehicles traveling in both directions must stop.
