Edinburg officer to receive state award for valor

Edinburg, TX – Edinburg Police Officer Fernando Cervantes has been selected to receive the 2026 Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor, recognizing acts of exceptional bravery.

According to the announcement, the award is presented by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to officers who demonstrate extraordinary courage in the line of duty.

Award details

Cervantes earned the recognition for his actions on Sept. 16, 2025. The announcement states his conduct reflected bravery under challenging circumstances.

Ceremony

Cervantes is scheduled to be formally recognized during an awards ceremony in June at the Texas State Capitol.
