South Texas Health System Edinburg Named Among Nation’s Top Hospitals by Forbes

Staff Report
Edinburg, TX – South Texas Health System Edinburg has earned a spot on the 2026 Forbes list of America’s Top Hospitals, placing it among the top 253 hospitals nationwide to receive a five-star rating. Only 13 hospitals in Texas achieved the same recognition.
The Forbes Top Hospitals list, introduced in 2026, identifies U.S. acute care hospitals that consistently deliver strong quality, value and patient outcomes. Rankings are based on independently validated data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog, assessing patient experience, clinical results, best practices and overall value.
“We’re honored to be recognized as a 2026 Top Hospital by Forbes,” said Lance Ames, CEO of South Texas Health System Edinburg and South Texas Health System Children’s. “This distinction reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire care team, who strive daily to provide exceptional, patient-centered care.”
The ranking methodology places strong emphasis on clinical outcomes such as mortality, infection and readmission rates, while also adjusting for social determinants of health to ensure fair comparisons among hospitals serving different populations.
