Edinburg Teen Police Academy Opens Registration for Summer Sessions, Deadline June 10

EDINBURG TX – The Edinburg Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2025 Teen Police Academy, a hands-on summer program designed to introduce high school students to law enforcement careers and community safety practices.

Open to Edinburg residents ages 14 to 17, the free academy offers two sessions: June 16–20 and June 23–27. Each session will run from 8 a.m. to noon and includes instruction on crime scene investigation, building searches, TASER demonstrations, active shooter scenarios, mock traffic stops, DWI and distracted driving awareness, and more.

Participants will also receive training in drug and gang education, police simulations, and basic first aid. Led by experienced officers, the program is designed to strengthen relationships between youth and local law enforcement through interactive activities and real-world exposure.

The deadline to apply is June 10, and space is limited. Applicants must reside in the City of Edinburg.
