Edinburg Police to Host ‘Operation Chill’ Community Night at 7-Eleven

EDINBURG, TX – The Edinburg Police Department is inviting residents to beat the summer heat with a community celebration at the upcoming “Operation Chill” event, set for July 11 at the 7-Eleven located at 1210 E. Monte Cristo Road.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and will feature games, prizes, free giveaways, and complimentary Slurpees for attendees. The public is encouraged to bring their families and enjoy an evening of activities with local law enforcement.

Operation Chill is a long-standing initiative aimed at fostering positive interactions between police officers and youth. As part of the program, officers hand out free Slurpee coupons to children spotted displaying good behavior, kindness, or responsibility.

The July 11 event serves as a larger community engagement opportunity, offering residents a chance to meet local officers, learn more about the program, and enjoy a relaxed evening together.

“This is a great way for our community to connect with law enforcement in a positive and fun setting,” said a department representative. “We’re looking forward to seeing families come out and chill with us.”
