Edinburg, TX, Oct. 24, 2023  The City of Edinburg, the proud home of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, has clinched the prestigious title of “Most Affordable College Town” in the United States, according to WalletHub’s “Best College Towns and Cities in America” study.

WalletHub’s extensive analysis encompassed an evaluation of 415 cities with college or university populations exceeding 7,500 students. The assessment considered a number of factors critical to students and residents alike, including housing costs, monthly fitness club fees, and the average prices of pizza, burgers, movies, and bowling. The cost of higher education also played a pivotal role in determining the final rankings.

South Texas had a strong showing in WalletHub’s rankings, with several Rio Grande Valley cities receiving notable recognition. Brownsville secured the third position, and McAllen claimed the fifth spot, reaffirming the region’s status as a hotspot for cost-conscious education seekers.
