Edinburg PD to host Movies with a Cop

First screening will be held June 2

Edinburg, TX, May 24, 2023  — The Edinburg Police Department is excited to announce the launch of their summer community initiative, Movies with a Cop, aimed at fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and the local community. This series of outdoor movie screenings will provide families with a fun and safe environment to enjoy quality time together, beginning on June 2, 2023.

The inaugural screening of Movies with a Cop will feature the beloved animated film, “Puss in Boots the Last Wish.” Families are invited to gather at Edinburg Municipal Park Field #1 every Friday at 8 p.m. throughout the summer to enjoy a different family-friendly movie each week. 

The series will run until August 11, creating memorable experiences for all attendees.

“We are thrilled to again host Movies with a Cop, an initiative that brings our community closer together,” said Chief Jaime Ayala. “By providing a platform for families to engage with our officers in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, we hope to build trust, strengthen community bonds, and create lasting positive experiences for our residents.”

Edinburg Municipal Park will be transformed into an outdoor cinema, where families are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and snacks. The event is free and open to the public, and attendees can look forward to a lively atmosphere with pre-screening activities and opportunities to interact with Edinburg’s dedicated police officers.
