Edinburg TX – The Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m.
Consent Agenda
The board will consider approving minutes from the Sept. 8 regular board meeting and a policy ensuring students attending local, district or state competitions are not marked absent for the 2026-27 school year.
The board will also consider a contract for election services with the Hidalgo County Elections Administrator at $285,145.40; amendments or corrections to the previously approved 2026-2027 compensation plan; an interlocal cooperative agreement with Hidalgo County for food regulation inspection at $3,000; renewal of Cisco Call Manager licensing for 4,100 districtwide VoIP phones; Hidalgo County Appraisal District allocations for the first quarterly payment of the 2026-2027 school year at $338,085; the 2026-2027 Region One Education Service Center library services and instructional resources cooperative at $124,992; and a Hudl, Inc. high school athletic department package for Edinburg High School, Edinburg North High School, Economedes High School and Vela High School at $80,000.
Additional consent items include renewal of Google Workspace for Education Plus licensing at $178,881.48; a 2026-2027 contract with Workforce Solutions for local child care initiatives at $230,000; the purchase of library print books and eBooks at $133,250; renewal of Follett School Solutions’ Destiny Library Manager subscription at $60,573.08; and contract renewals for drug, alcohol and random drug testing services ($50,000); School Health and Related Services ($115,000); awards and incentives ($200,000); automotive and bus parts and tools ($1.2 million); intercom system repair ($50,000); promotional merchandise and services ($100,000); fire alarm inspection and repair ($200,000); and office supplies and equipment ($500,000).
Action Agenda
The board will consider approving the district’s annual certification of compliance as required by Texas Education Code Section 39.008, and authorizing the superintendent to submit the certification to the Texas Education Agency.
The board will discuss and consider adoption of proposed changes to the district’s health plan for the 2027 plan year.
The board will consider a resolution accepting payments in lieu of taxes from the Housing Authority of the City of Edinburg, authorizing a scholarship funding agreement, approving scholarship award criteria, and superseding a prior 2022 resolution.
Closed Session
The board will meet in closed session to consult with the district’s attorney regarding pending litigation, deliberate on real property matters, and discuss personnel matters, including the proposed termination of at-will employee Maria E. Longoria, updates on pending personnel investigations, and a superintendent’s personnel update. The board will also discuss findings from an intruder detection audit at Barrientes Middle School and De La Viña Elementary.
Open Session
Following closed session, the board will consider action on items discussed, including the superintendent’s recommendations concerning employment, resignations, retirements, non-renewals and terminations, and the proposed termination of Longoria.
