Edinburg TX – The City of Edinburg is accepting applications for a Code Enforcement Officer in its Health and Code Department, offering a starting wage of $16.23 per hour.

The position involves conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance and approve the opening of restaurants, day care centers, school cafeterias, foster and adoption home applications, and grocery and convenience stores. Officers make regular visits to Edinburg businesses and residential locations and respond to complaints filed by residents.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalency; associate degree in general studies preferred
  • One year of experience in code enforcement or a related field; three years preferred, with experience in health food establishment inspections
  • Must obtain a Code Enforcement Officer License from a recognized agency within one year of employment
  • Must obtain Food Manager Certification within one year of employment
  • Must hold a current valid Class C driver’s license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
