Edinburg Fire Department Opens Applications for Free Teen Fire Academy Summer Sessions

Edinburg TX – The Edinburg Fire Department is now accepting applications for its Teen Fire Academy, a free, week-long program giving teens hands-on experience and training alongside Edinburg Fire Department personnel. The application deadline is Monday, June 22.

The academy is open to Edinburg residents ages 13 to 17 and requires parental approval. Three class sessions are available this summer, each running 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • Class 3: July 6-10, 2026
  • Class 4: July 13-17, 2026
  • Class 5: July 20-24, 2026

Participants will receive training in first aid and CPR, mock search and rescue drills, extrication operations, and a live fire demonstration, along with other hands-on activities and exercises designed to give teens a look at the day-to-day operations of the Edinburg Fire Department. A T-shirt and lunch are provided.
